Attachments on other brands??????????

Can I purchase a stihl or an echo and use other brand attachments? Like a stihl power pruner on a stihl head and vice versus? There is a guy local that is selling every one of his attachments made by echo for $500. He has 2 of everything including articulating hedge trimmers. We all have stihl's but I will buy an echo if need be to get this great deal.

will not work. if you buy a stihl, stihl wants you buying their attachments.
