I made the dray(bob sled) out of Ash that I had sawed a couple years ago.The skis are full 2" wide and I used steel strap on the bottom of the skis. I wish I had made the arch of the skis longer, with more sweep to them.

One can do up a lot of firewood with an ATV, and from some pretty hard to get to & tight spaces.

That's a nice sled. You could even take it to another level & save some handling/steps by cutting to length right on it like a sawbuck. Might have to rearrange a little bit - I'd try first putting two long ones lengthwise, then maybe 4 or so short ones cross wise, then pile your load on those. Then when you get to where you're going, you can cut the load to length in no time. Might need a bit taller stakes - but having the load raised up a bit will get it further from your sled so your saw will be less likely to get into it, and will be a bit easier on the back. Should still be lots stable since your runners are outside the load a bit, and it still won't be very far off the ground.

I kind of poo-poo'd sawbucks until I started using them on a trailer. Cuts down on the time & handling big-time. I can haul almost 1/4 of a full cord on my trailer behind my ATV (in summer when traction is good), and can cut the whole 1/4 cord to length in 5 minutes with my ms360 + 20" bar.

I cut the trees in pole length of 8'...then skid them out of the woods to a clearing, there I load them in a sawbuck and cut several at once into 16" firewood. My MS362 with 20" bar does great on the sawbuck. One loaded sawbuck=one tier across my Silverado pickup box.

Very nice. I do almost all my hauling with an old (2002) Bombardier too. I don't have a reliable snow cover here all winter, so I built a Log Arch from stuff I had laying around for when I need to move a log for processing.

But, most of the time, I buck and split where the tree falls, then load in a small cart so I can wind my way out of the woods without really making a cart path or ruts.

Thanks for all of the comments. This area on my property is low and wet...only time to get in there is in the winter. My Dad and I enjoy the time together
getting the firewood out of there.I hope I can get it all before it is totally useless. My Grandpa used to skid with horses and a logging dray,I found some old pictures and used that for my plans to build my own.I was surprised at how well it pulls when fully loaded..lots of fun actually.I am anxious to get out there next weekend.
