Hello everyone! I'm new to the site and I've been browsing looking for ideas for my log splitter I want to build. Lot's of cool stuff here.

I have a question about auto cycle.

I saw a splitter set up once that ran an auto cycle without relying on the fluid pressure to reverse the valve. It had a spring loaded chain attached to the ram and it would trip a switch or a valve at the end of the stroke to reverse direction. It was fully adjustable. All you had to do was change the length of the chain. Has anyone seen anything like this or have an idea how it could be rigged up? Thanks.

Welcome to the site. I believe member @Whitespider has something similar and hopefully he is around to share some thoughts.
Actually mine does use internal hydraulic pressure to "reverse" the valve, only the stop point of the return stroke is mechanical... it just kicks the lever into "neutral" position
