So in these lean times are you willing to let a customer go? I recently gave a very competitive bid for doing prunning on 4 birch trees. The customer gladly accepted the proposal. Within 2.5 hrs. the wife called me with many rapid fire questions about how we prune and she had many concerns which I answerd politely. Then two more times within 20 minutes she called to dictate the conditions that I would opperate under if I were to come to her yard. She seemed to want more than what had been bid on for the same price... All of these I would not normaly have a problem with, but I could sense the tension with which she talked to me. I figured it would be much easier to call and refuse the work, to this she replied that she already had another person to do the work anyway. The entire time elapsed 4 hrs., not impossible just not likely.

I'm curious about these "conditions." I'm assuming no peeing in her yard and no man on man action among the groundies? I've got to admit, if i can't watch my groundies get it on in someone's yard, i'd refuse the job.

!?!?!?.......

i thought you worked in new york and not on capetree's hack show?

You guys are sick, These conditions were such things as not using the orchard ladder because it would damage the lawn & garden, possably the ground cover. :bang:

Lol, take it easy, just had an outstanding day and joking around. A lot of people have conditions, it's not unusual. We have a guy i've done alot of tree work for over the years. He has a beautiful lawn but the spongiest thing i've ever set foot on. Being a big guy, the heels on my wescos leave a depression in his lawn every step. So one of his conditions is no high heeled (man, am i channeling the gay side tonight?) boots on his lawn. It's an odd condition, but i do it to keep the customer happy and we keep making thousands of dollars from him every year.

We are not sick, we are just saying ( I am ) conditions are negotiated. You need to bid to the 'conditions'!
Quit crying.
Jeff ;)

Nicely said.

Almost sounds to me like she got a lower offer and was gonna be a pain to deal with because she was unhappy about paying more than the lowest price. That was why she already had someone lined up.

Jeff,
How is that the longest tounge twister you've ever heard? Do you read out loud at your computer? My daughter does that but she is eight years old. If my post didn't make sense, I think the customer accepted the first bid, then another tree service showed up and offered to beat the bid. The wife, having already agreed to the higher price was going to be a big pain to deal with till he got sick of her and she could go with the lower bid.

Not sure which to answer.

lol lol lol, yeah that!

Hey guys, OP back again to try to eliminate the alternative life style from the thread. I did speak to another tree company who is a good friend and competitor he also agreed the customer was a PITA. Remember, her husband took the bid and I did not have any problems with what he had said. It only became a problem when the wife started in with all the things that would be adding time to the job. None of what she said had to do with guys doing funny stuff in the yard. You guys are still sick !!!

sometimes you just gotta let it go.......

I bet her husbands favorite words are "yes dear" "I'll get right on that dear".....lol...
