Just wandering what saw out of these 3 is built better and would last longer ??? I looked at several used ones at a big garage sale and he had a couple different bar lengths in each brand of saw, started to buy one but didn't know which saw was built better out of the 3 mentioned. I have 2 Stihl's and an older Husky 272, just had the urge to own another, think i've caught the fever. The man still has the saws for sale, just need opinions as to which would be the better saw. Thanks.

The Homelite or Mac would get my vote.....

saws

Would prefer something 50cc or very close, i have a little trim / limb saw, want something that will cut through a pretty good sized log, also no smaller than 18"-20". Was just wandering what to get, could even buy new if i had some idea what to get for my intended puprose. Thanks to all that replied / replies.

Well if you decide on a new saw there are a ton of good ones outhere, all major brands put out a pretty good 50cc saw.

In 50cc saws, between Mac Homelite and Poulan, I'm partial to Macs, but Homelites get a nod too. the 10-10 series Macs, or XL series Homelites are my preferences.

My thoughts exactly. I see many many old XL-12's and 10-10 Macs still running strong. Good ole saws.................

What models are we talking?

10 series macs, XL-12/Super XL homelites, and 3000 series poulans or older 306 type saws are all of equal quality in my mind.

You may be well correct but in my area we see alot of old XL-12's and 10-10 Macs still going strong. Cant say I see many old Poulans around here. Thats not to say which is better , but only around here I rarely see old Poulans nearly as much as old Homlites and Macs still running strong...

i would have to go with the mac on this.....the 1010 to me runs better than the homeys.

saw

The mac 1010 is a old saw from the 70's, you will no longer find those unless at a yardsell, fleamarket, or ebay.

If you are looking to buy a new saw, dont waist your money on a mac homey or poulan, some of the old ones are good, but the new ones are not much.

Nice saw, why get some junk? Maybe put some money into it and fix it up, major tuneup, Cannon bar, new sprocket/chain, can't go wrong.
