What did they do try and pick the whole tree? So how do you get the crane down from there cut the cable and run LOL :jawdrop:

This will not be good for advertising most likely. It looks like it made every local news company and the papers.

I just seen it on the Cleveland news. Not much was said other than OSHA is involved now. At least they were smart enough to make the homeowner stay out of her house while they tried to remove it.

I don't get it. Is it a badge of courage to see how close you can get it to the max weight of the crane. Why even think about taking a chance and just take a couple of smaller picks. Can't see it really taking any longer since you have to clean up the landing zone anyways before the next pick arrives.

We just had the same thing happen here, This company is really bad, not sure how they have not been shut down yet, First, they drop about a 2000lb chunk threw a roof, homeowner WAS inside, not hurt. Instead of shutting down at the homeowners request, they kept going, then they drop another, HITS THE CLIMBER. He is gonna be ok, but doubt hell climb ever again, messed his knee up real bad. Didn't make the news. They wanted me to come over and give a report on what went wrong! I told them it wasn't the tree crews fault, but the homeowner who hired them. The crane company has had several incidents, not all with trees. I cant believe they are still operating either

Fault of HOMEOWNER???

Not saying I disagree, but hoping you give just a bit more explanation please?

Did crane op release brake? Did cranes equipment fail, like chokers or something? Homeowner hired crappy crane co., but his fault?

According whats been said in a few reports it come back to wind twisting the limb ..it broke, fell a bit and the resulting shock load hauled the crane over..

bad situation ,no-one hurt ..its only wood and steel
