Hi,
I have a timberharvester 30tl-19 bandsaw that takes 13'11'' bands. I have use red Streak exclusively in the past and was going to order more when the salesman tried to sell me the "hardened" blades due to longevity. My sharpener told me they are almost unable to be sharpened? Any thoughts on buying band saw blades?
Thanks guys,
Joe

Bandsaw Blades

Not sure on Red Streak but Woodmizer has a hardened blade that can be sharpened.Unless it is carbide.Your sharpener can get diamond [for carbide]or borazon wheels[for all hardened steel] to do the job.

Joe,

Simonds make a quality blade that is comparable to the best out there. So unless you are experiencing issues it's hard to go wrong with them.
I'm not sure what to make of the 'hardened' blade that was suggested to you, but here is a link to our blade knowledge base that can help you with understanding more about blades in general to help with future decision making about what is best for your application Bandsaw Blade Articles

By the way, most any standard bandsaw blade has hardened teeth or they simply wouldn't last any time. Some manufacturers use different methods of hardened the teeth (flame, induction, ect.) but in the end there is a sweet spot between not hardened enough (soft tooth) and over hardened (brittle) and they can all be sharpened with a standard grind rock. It is in the case of carbide tipped teeth where someone would need a special rock like a diamond grit grind wheel.
