Hey I have question for everyone.

Do you guys open up ro put an angle in your bar oil holes to allow easier oil pickup onto the chain? I recently was reading all about the oregon Pro bars and they have a angled oil ramp it looks like to deliver oil to the chain more efficently. I was thinking about using my buddies dremmel to put an angle and possibly open up the hole a touch or is this a bad idea.

Thanks everyone

Howdy,

Smaller oil hole diameter is more important than the angle. The flow of oil keeps it cleared out. If the hole is larger, it plugs easier. The angle is a red herring that Oregon threw in there to answer Stihl's E-matic claims. (Like Lubri-jet followed Oil-o-matic). These two are in a contest to come up with new verbage!

The Oregon design does work better, but it is because of the reduced diameter of the hole.

Thank you Walt, I havnt taken fluid mechanics yet. So much to learn so little time to play with my chainsaw

So the smaller hole keeps a higher vaccuum pressure to pull the oil up and into hte chain then? Or is is simply the fact that the bigger hole will plug easier.
