I hate to ask a dumb question, but do the flats sides on the bar studs on a Stihl go horizonital or vertical?
I have a 038 I have used for 10 years and the bar studs are round. I was using a 044 (not mine) and took the bar off to clean.
When I put it back together the bar had a lot of play and I noticed the studs were backed out. I tightened them up and the flat sides were aligned with the bar slot, but it was loose. If I back them out a turn so the round area is up, it fits snug. which is right?
