Trolling for roller nose

Steve here...
Here is a pic of a brand new roller nose I bought today at the local saw shop!!! WOW did I luck out, it was still behind the counter in a parts bin, mixed in with sprocket noses.

Steve here... Yep(racing) and I like'm because you can run 3/8,.404,or half inch chain, on the same bar. It rolls better too. I put the same chain on a bar with the old roller nose and a bar with a sprocket nose and the chain slides along the rail easier on the roller nose. (less resistance on your finger when push it.

A sprocket nose is designed to carry the chain up and around the tip not allowing the chain to make contact with the tip
I would be surprised if there was any real benifit other than the ability to run various pitches
