I had a customer call me today with a weird situation. Their dog has been chewing and scratching at the trunk of a red maple. Just looking for some advice on options for treatment. I asked how long it had been going on and he said a couple weeks. I told him first of all he needed to put up some kind of temporary fence to keep the dog away from it, which would seem like a no brainer to begin with. All i could come up with was to do a bark trace and see what happens. I dont want to use any kind of wound sealer, i never liked
the stuff and dont want to trap moisture because of fear of fungus or rot. I am kind of stumped :msp_confused: and help would be appreciated. Asides from that the tree is suffering from anthracnose which i have subbed out to be taken care of. The tree needs to be corrective pruned but i dont want to touch it until the bark and fungus is taken care of.View attachment 298795View attachment 298796View attachment 298797
