Hey guys, first post here.

I am doing some work on a friend's chipper who is on this site (He owns Tree Climber Tree Services in Stouffville, Ontario) and am having some issues.

Recently, we replaced all the hydraulic hoses on the chipper because one blew. The chipper worked after that, but the flow valve started to leak. So, we got a new one and replaced it, and changed the filter, and now the chipper will not... chip. We can start it up, engage the fan/wheel, etc, but when you engage the feed wheel it will not move.

Any ideas? Where do I start looking? Any help is much appreciated!!

Thanks!
Andrew

I dont know much about the vermeers but on a bandit when we remove any hyd component it lets air in to the system. The suction from the pump is usually not enough to pull the fluid at the tank when there is air in the lines. We use a little compressed air to pressurize the tank to push the fluid to the pump after that the feed system starts working. If that is not helping you may have a pressure adjustment on that new valve you put on and it may not be set to the right setting.

Hey, that makes sense!

He brought it to get looked at, and turns out the pump was pooched. I figure it was probably on it's last legs, and us running it with air was the straw that broke the camels back. It works now, so bonus!

Thanks!
