Seems that this year has been a record one for nice days in the winter, and for getting skunked when milling.

Drove down to the beach brimming with hope and optimism and a slightly sore back, a glorious day.

Unfortunately there was nothing to be had at the log dump today. Apparently the city crews are all busy spreading wood chips around the bases of all the city's park and boulevard trees to make it easier for summer mowing. So they are not spending any time bringing downed trees to the log dump. Hopefully when they get back to it there will be a backlog of good stuff. Especially since it was super windy last week, would expect lots to have come down.

Usually the clouds back up against the mountains and obscure their tops. It's a rare day that is cloudy and the tops of the mountains are beaming in the sun!

i just had a load of logs dropped off and we ended up with 12" of snow so instead of milling im out plowing and cleaning up with the tractor...so i feel ya

Hope you don't mind, but I lifted your photo and ran it through PhotoMatix...

hey guys

im new to this its my first post infact.how do i know where its ok to mill or take lumber? I live in oregon by quite a few rivers where i can get alot of lumber but dont really want to get in trouble

I would make a call to your govt. forestry people and tell them what you would like to do. They will let you know whether you can or not. I think you have some federal lands there as well so you would have to contact both state and federal depts. Some of the other guys on this site will be from your area so they might pipe up to let you know. Good luck.
