I think it is in the basement, not in the tree. Normally a pulley right?

I didn't have all my gear w/ me so instead of using my micro as tender for the pic i put it up top for friction reduction, usually i have a slightly larger pulley up top, sorry for the confusion...

Yeah that in the shop, the ropes hanging over our crane in the shop.. not basement or tree...:)

JPS,

The information came from a letter sent to Aspen Tree Expert Co. Inc (Mark C) on the 24th July 2003. The letter was in direct response to the concerns generated over butterfly modifications and the information in my post was the detail within the letter.

The information provided within the letter does only apply on produced items up to July 2003, so basically they are saying that modifying a harness in the ways described on a brand new harness is not acceptable.

I understand that climbers may need this documentation for there chapter events, and the new ITCC rule change will mean that any mods will require a letter from the manufacture to state its' suitability, that is of course unless your system incorporates the existing bridge?

But i am unsure as to whether the documentation i have would still be valid, you may want to check with MC on this one or even Tom D may have a comment to add.

Do you think it would be possible w/ my saddle mod. to send pics to the manufacturer and documentation in order to recieve a piece of paper approving this...??????Of what you wrote earlier, nothing was stated about removal or replacement of the aluminum rings? Can i get a copy of the original letter sent to Mark C. so i at least have some kind of documentation is allowed....

As JPS says, Mark is probably best placed to answer your queries or the ITCC rule committee - technical advisor. The information i provided was with leaving the rings in tact and insitu, it related only to replacement of the webbing strap.

Do you run to the letter of the ITCC rules and regs within your local chapter TCCs?

What were you meaning here?/

I mean do you follow every rule and regulation laid down in the ITCC rules, discussion on saddle mods is a hot topic and i was interested to know if your regional comps would allow modified saddles in if "fit for purpose" without any additonal documentation.

Best thing i can tell you is the equipment inspection is a pain in the arse, and Especially for me b/c i come w/ modified saddle and different climbing systems than most of the old timers at these events have even seen....If i go again im bringing another unmodified butterfly, just in case, that way i at least have something suitable to climb w/
