Been running the Sandvik wheel on the old 252 for 15 months, put 830 hours and finally the cutter wheel bearings are toast. That's 300-400 more hours than I ever got with the Vermeer ProTeeth. That's been with greasing the bearings until the grease just starts to come out daily. Some say don't do it, but 830 hours on a set of bearings, yeah, I think I'll keep doing it the same. BTW, the jackshaft bearings still seem to be running smooth and silent, so will leave them alone for now.

Got 3050 hours on the machine now, still going strong on the old Kohler 25hp, tho it does have a small oil leak/weep down on bottom somewhere. Doesn't leak enough to justify tearing it down, so hope it holds on til I need to replace with a 35hp or so engine.

Awesome!! Gotta love the Sandvik.

Grease is cheap. Purge bearings are nice. I use a power grease gun everyday on the purge bearings. How is the sandvik cutter wheel itsself doing, any wear?

I have 330 hours on mine and it is showing very little wear on the wheel.

Oly,

Yes, the wheel is showing quite a bit of wear. Several of the weld in pockets are about half or more worn off and the outside edge of the wheel is worn alot too. It's really the only complaint I have about the Sandvik system. Seems like the wheel itself should last longer than 830 hours, that's only 15 months for me. And they don't give them away, as you may know.

The guys at New River said they have a longer version of the "short" tooth that goes in the weld in pockets now available that is supposed to provide more protection to the wheel and weld in pockets themselves since the teeth protrude farther out from the wheel. Is anyone using these longer "short" teeth? How are they working?

I definitely have to do something about the worn welded pockets before next year's busy season.

Are you running the Sandvik Oly?

Hi Stumper63...
Right now I have a 8018 TRX with the Sandvik. I also recently bought a new RG50 Super. If I could I would have ordered it (RG50) with the Sandvik but Rayco does not allow that. They (Rayco) also said that if I replace their wheel with a Sandvik prior to the warranty runnning out, the warranty is void and they will not cover anything. I guess I'm going to have to wait until the Rayco wheel is worn out and then replace it with the sandvik. There is a 3 yr warranty on the Rayco. I should have bought the remote wheeled Carlton but just did not like the push blade. I use the push blade all the time pushing grindings and logs out of the way. My Carlton 8018TRX has a nice push blade.
