Howdy,

Just picked up a Stihl MS200 with a 14" bar and it's fantastic. I'd like to pick up a spare chain or two. Any suggestions? Anyone running a .325 chain?

The chain needs to hold up to all-day professional use, mostly brush clearing/small tree (<14"dbh) felling.

Thanks.

the wife's 180c has the .43 narrow curf i think it is called picco chain and it got the nickname ginsu by me that thing ripswith that 14" combo perfect limbing saw if you ask me in that category pssst. I have felled up to 18" dbh and blocked up to 24" hardwoods with it but don't tell her that is just between us.

The correct chain for the 200 is a 3/8 PMC or PMC3... .325 for that saw is not an option in the USA.

All day? well... that depends on how you use it, but I'd be carrying a file or two. 14 dbh? I'd get a bigger saw as well...

I like the PM chain personally. This is however a "non-safety" chain meaning it has a higher rate of kickback potential. The number for this chain is 3997 005 0050. It is 3/8" Picco

Thanks for the replies. Right now I'm running the 3/8" picco, and it cuts well, until you hit a rock!
I will probably pick up another one.

I was just curious whether you could use one of the other Stihl (or Oregon) 0.50 3/8" chains on the MS200 and get good performance.
