Repeat every year until you die.
Oh yeah you have to empty the ashes once in awhile.

I have a bigger OWB and mostly burn 4ft's so it's even less handling but I do have a good pile of split for fall and spring when I just need small fires.

My dad and I used to collect rounds for 6-12 months and stack them 3-4 high in a long row along our driveway. Then we would rent a hydro and just work down the pile until they were all gone. After a year in the sun most rounds were already getting fairly dry and split really nice.
About the same for me but no rental. I almost never noodle ..rounds that are light enough to be picked up go on the splitter in the horz. position the rest get flopped in with the tractor while in the vertical mode.

I scrounge year around and split in the spring...I get my 5-7 cord a year busted up in one week then the splitter goes back in the building. This year's a little different in that I've been accumulating a little year by year surplus and I've got 12 cord sitting around now , I might take a year off and just stack rounds for next season.

There's no fun in firewooding for me, it's just more work so a year off would be great in my book...my boys and I will just have to spend more time off-roading and fishing!

I will buck until everything cut up, usually I'm scrounging around, load on trailer. Split off trailer on horizontal and toss on ground, if no empty wagon or in wagon.

If have big logs dumped, will buck as much as I can until I get sick of tripping over rounds. Then split, vertical, cause they on ground already.

Man, I'd like to do *anything* with wood right now, fell, buck, split, hump it out, stack..whatever, don't care. Something. Sucks being crippled up, can't hardly do anything. I'm walking hunched over slow, most I've done about wood lately is axe off some PI vines for potential next winter felling on some trees.

Using the axe for a cane! HAHAHA, Hey it works!

I hope you can get back at it soon zogger.

I enjoy bucking the most. I bring the rounds home on a trailer. The rounds roll off the trailer onto the splitter. Splitting is all good, but I really enjoy sawing. off the splitter I toss/pile into the wood shed. I dont like stacking. I dont stack anymore, but did I mention how much I like to use the saw?
