What has everyone done to their saws (other than internal engine mods)

I never knew there was so much stuff you could buy aftermarket for your saw!!!!

Any of you guys ever replaced your stock airfilters with the K & N filters?
Gone with an aftermarket set of dogs?
Got an aftermarket handel bar?
And countless other ways to spend ones hard earned $$$!!!
Somone please stop me....!

Expensively-

I have changed to a set of Big Dawgs for the small original ones on my PP385...Just recently changed handlebars do to a little mishap  ..other than that just walkerized muffler and a Dan Henry Power Ported job..Oh yeah and of course the Maxima Racing Oil decals :D There are endless ways to spend on a saw..

Later Rob.

This saw has a K/N on it. I dont know if it makes more hp because it is the only filter I have run on the saw, but it makes a cool whoosh when I gun the throttle:cool:

I've got a K&N stack on my Husky 268XP. Like Huskyman I've never run the saw stock so don't really know how much it gains. Back when I bought the saw my saw mechanic friend (who was not involved in the sale) said it was a great thing-generally upping performance by an easy 10%. It certainly does cut down on filter cleaning!

The K & N filter sounds like a good envestment for my 460. Well that and maybe a bigger set of dogs.

I have a K&N filter panel in my truck and it has held up very well so far.
I would have gone with the cold aid induction or Fuel injected perfrmance kit, but they are way to expensive.
Not to mention I have better things to spend my money on, like chainsaws!!!

Is it true that Rob's (Stihl Mags) saws are always standing up in his pics because he has the space saver models? Rick/Creep

Just out of curiosity, what do the bigger dogs do for you, as in what is the advantage of them?

I can only speak for my 268- I haven't tried Huskyman's Jonsey. The filter doesn't get in the way. I do however have a different kit on mine that seems to have a little lower and shorter intake and I'm using a smaller K&N filter-it is tapered. In opoeration it is not in the way at all. I do have to watch out for the filter in a top opening tool box.-I don't want anything on top of it when I close the lid-Squish.....;)

Larger dogs help in falling and bucking thick barked trees, ie. Red woods, doug fir, bull pine, ect. I happen to prefer mid sized dogs, for most of my falling. I find the factory dogs lacking for large chestnut oak and poplar. Some people don't like dogs at all, it really depends on your cutting style and what you get used to:rolleyes: On stuff 24'' and less as long as you have a good SHARP chain it really doesn't matter.

Big dogs can eat up bar length, and that is bad, unless you have some of the newer stihl dogs that are only big on the bottom tooth. This gives you the performance of big dogs yet allows you to use the full length of the bar once you're buried in the wood.

sounds like I should rule out he KN kit hunh???
Well thanks for the heads up guys!!!
