hi all,
i am new to this site. am a Katrina survivor and i have recently done a little cleanup work in New Orleans due to the storm. what a mess!!

i am interested in buying bulk chain.
i want to know what the better chain manufacturers are.
any suggestions is greatly appreciated.

will be glad to share my views of the cleanup effort taking place in New Orleans and the Slidell area.

My opinion is Stihl chain is the best. I have used many others and I now buy nothing but Stihl chain. I also agree check out baileys for bulk chain.

Stihl chain has teh best metallurgy, bar none. Carlton may not be too far behind along with Woodsman Pro from Baileys. But if you buy Stihl chain in bulk forget about bulk pricing discounts, expect to pay $100 for a 25" roll and 350-400 for 100'. Bailey's is probably the cheapest, but also look at Madsens and see what they have to offer. I've had good luck with Oregon, Stihl, and WoodsmanPro/Carlton chain. Keep it out of teh dirt and sharp and you'll be happy with any of it. Can you tell us what saw youa re running and how big of a bar?

Diesel, unless you live in Wa., you can't get Stihl chain from Madsen's. Too bad for y'all, as I pay $205 for 33RS and similar 3/8th chain!!!

Negotiate with your Stihl dealer. If they won't sell you chain for well under $300, take your business elsewhere.
