I have done plenty of jobs where we burned hand piled red needle slash that had been left for months to dry. I was wondering if anyone has burned green slash on smaller jobs (1-2 acres). I was thinking I could get a starter fire going with some of the dead stuff and continuously throw green onto it. It would be nice to finish the job all at one time instead of returning months later to burn. Just seeing if this has worked for anyone. Thanks

Youll get better answers for this in the forestry and logging section. I use diesel to gas 3:1. the more gas, the quicker it burns. You can go down to 2:1 or even 1:1 getting it going if you're having a hard time, then 3:1 to spread it around. A drip torch helps a lot

Permits are an issue. I've done some huge slash burn offs, loading the pile with a 20 tonne excavator with a grapple and kept it going day and night for about a week. Green still burns obviously (we have forest fires!) but the critical thing is the mass. A big pile has enough heat to keep going. Small piles burn out fast. You're burning off a lot of water, so you need the heat to keep it going
