Can you start a Burr Oak from one of the acorns from the tree? If so, what is the best way to do it?
Burr Oak, Quercus macrocarpa, belonging to the White Oak group would require having the acorns planted into the soil immediatly. No stratification like acorns in the Red Oak group.

Really easy to do

Here is what I do. As Elmore indicated the acorns need to be planted as soon as possible after collecting. I collect my seed and then float the seed in water. The good seeds will sink and the bad ones will float. I then soak them over night in this same water. The next day I will take a shovel and take 1/2 to inch of soil off the top. Place the acorns and then recover. Mulch the area if possible to keep the weeds out the first year. By year 2 you should be ready for transplanting. My planting bed is usually 10ft x 10ft. Hope this helps
