I have Had good luck, You can really get to know if someone is trustworthy by reading past post. If they sound like post you would write well then there you go!!

Help!

I have many saws I need to get out of The Peoples Republic of Massachusetts. If you just provide me with your bank's ABA routing number and your account number I can "deposit" my saws in your bank account. (Someone will try to fall for this one):monkey:

My first Saw!

I've been reading and researching (and lusting) after many saws. I've used several in the past - most notably my FIL's Husky 55.

Long story short, I was able to purchase a 455 Rancher off the list just this week - just in time for attendance at The Game of Logging I & II this weekend.

The price was extremely fair and the purchase went really well - but I drove the hour to get the saw. :)

I'm a bit queasy, too, about sending a check to some dude you don't really know. I prefer to deal locally.

I bought my 7900 from an AS member. I considered the number of post and join date. Also did a search of his actual post to learn what I could. When did he actually get this saw. Did he have problems. What type of user. You can learn a great deal by researching someones post. Good luck. By the way I payed with paypal and got a great saw.

I bought a 335XPT from a member here. It was a great deal... a great experience... and I would work with this member again ANY time. I use this saw on EVERY job. It's been a GREAT addition to my fleet.

Well, I got my 036 from a member here that was miss repped real bad. Took about 2 months to get it too. After a piston and cyl, chain and bar, it is real nice now. I made the mistake of sending him a check so I had to shell out a lot of coin to repair it cause he told me to go to he##.
I still believe in the people here, but there are snakes anywhere you go so, BUYER BEWARE !!!! Hope it works out ok for you.

My past dealings with members have been positive, and will continue to deal without hesitation.

Anyone that can give me some good advise on how to handle a transaction with another AS member over a used saw? I ran an add in the trading post, a fellow member responded to what sounds like a good deal.
Anyone to any trading that can give me some advise beyond the obvious? I have bought a ton of stuff off of ebay, but you have some protection there with square trade as well as paypal. I hate the idea of sending a check to someone that I dont even know.
Any advise?
I sort of think it's buyer be aware. Personally I wouldn't do it. Probably just the pesimist in me but I'm so tired of getting screwed on stuff that I'd rather go buy a new one.

I purchased a 066 and CS mill from a member here and couldn't be happier. I was fortunate enough to have met him and run the saw previously at a GTG.
I would send him a blank check w/o hesitation on purchasing another saw.

I guess it would cause alot of S*&T but you and anybody else that gets screwed by a member should let us know.:greenchainsaw:

since 2001... he's one of the original AS members... odds of getting burnt goes down with established members...

once you've invested time on a forum.... odds are they won't want to be bad mouthed for a bad deal.

the few deals I've done with AS members turned out fine

This guy has 200 plus posts, been around here since 2001. Would you consider that long standing?

Never have bought anything here, or flea bay for that matter...I guess when it comes to anything running on fossil fuels, I like to see it personally, but...I might go for a nice 066!

The 036 from the auction I scored was o-tay!

Thanks for all the opinions. I emailed him and asked for some pictures of the saw, havent heard back from him yet, but I get the impression that he doesnt use the computer everyday, at least by how often he logs on to AS.
If the saw looks good, I might be tempted to give it a try. Anyone have any idea what a five year old 357XP with a 20 inch bar should run for $$ ways in excellent condition?
Member says its in excellent condition, says maybe 20 tankfuls ran through it. Hes a dedicated Stihl guy, and wants to sell off the only Husky hes got.

When I use to be into cars I was on a nation wide board like this. There was a member that sold some things on e-bay. He shipped the items and never received a check. The guy just wouldn't pay him. It was close to $1k worth of stuff. So he asked some guy on the board to go by the guys house and take a picture. Then he e-mailed the guy a pic of his house and said you never know where I am or where my friends are. He had a check in his mail box 2 days later. It really is a small world.

Scott

I like it!!
