Does any one have any recomendations of a good place to order from?

Quality knives, prompt shipping, and price are my criteria, in that order.

Zenith Cutter has been good we get our chipper knives, stumper teeth, and Samurai hand saws from them.

Thanks. I just ordered a knife from them. Hope it shows up soon. It is amazing how fast they go from "not really very sharp any more" to "this is ridiculous".

I had ordered knives from zenith and they are made in Vietnam which I was not happy with. The company that sharpens the knives says they are very brittle and poor quality. I haven't had a problem and we were putting on machines for sale. Is hard to buy USA made today. Just my thoughts

I've had good luck with Zenith also. Prompt, courteous and friendly and the price is right. They have held up better than the "morbark" knives that came with the chipper for half the price. I tried Bailey's woodsman brand chipper knives and was very dissapointed.

chipper blades

zenith has very good service good price and we have 9 chippers almost all names and haven't had any problems, over the past ten years or so with the blades.

The UPS guy just delivered my order. That was fast! :jawdrop:

I disagree that the Zenith blades are better than the Morbark. They provide good service and price their blades appropriately with the quality that they manufacture them with. You get what you pay for. An average blade at a good price. I do sharpening on the side and know they are a softer metal. No question in my mind.

He asked for opinions and suggestions. I will speak from my experiences and you can speak from your experiences. Fair enough?

You have experience sharpening them, I have a lot of experience using them. I never got double the life out of a morbark knife as compared to the others, so in my experience I wasn't getting what I paid for.

Sure it is. Didn't mean to sound over the top. Just stating my case.

I agree with TreeCo though too. They last differently depending on what you chip. I just think an edge would last longer on an OEM blade based on blade hardness. The people I talk too also notice the difference in blades. I am glad those blades are working for you.

I agree with Darin I've sharpened Zenith and Morbark also, and the Morbark are a much harder composite.

But it's had to pass up a good deal . . . I bought 4 complete sets of knives from Zenith at Hartford show they were selling my style for around $35 per knife plus free shipping (usually they go for almost $60/knife from other dealers) and the knives were waiting for me when I got home . . . hard to beat a cheap price and quick service.

I find the Zenith don't hold up as well as Morbark when chipping very large knotty logs or hard dry dead oak branches - they sometimes chip their edges.

don't like Zenith

I bought a set, for an Asplundh 16", from Zenith about 10 years ago.
They dulled so fast (as I recall, which isn't saying much) that I took them out and never used them again. I was not impressed by their quality when I installed them and have never tried them again.
I routinely buy blades from Bailey's, not to impressed by them either but they seem to hold-up OK and at least they are the proper thickness and hold an edge.

SDM Tools They have the price (no doubt)
I recently ordered a box of eight (8) Insane deal super cheap shipping
took exactly one (1) week from internet order to delivery from CA to PA
I have yet to install a set in my chipper... So my opinion of the quality is unknown. Made in china like the majority in my price bracket.

knife depth

I made the mistake of ordering a different knife depth with out realizing it. Changing the anvil every time seems to time consuming so I dont use them anymore. I just use the stock bandit knifes, they do pretty well for me.
