I am looking at putting some graphics on the company truck to help it stand out. I was looking at this kind of graphic www.camo4u.com since it has leaves and sticks in the camo, plus I live in a big hunting area. Has anyone tried putting this on themselves? Also, can this material be used as a company write-off for taxes? I was thinking it should be.

Just some thoughts

To me, camo says "hunter", though you may be in the right market for that type of design. To attract clients outside the hunter community, a few accents may be more appropriate, tastefully incorporated into your tree service logo, phone number, etc. And you still have the hunter feel for your contemporaries' market. It really depends on the market you're trying to attract. Do you have camo on a web site, yellow page ad, invoices, estimates? Tying all these things together with a common theme makes good marketing sense. Maybe that's your'e niche, Camo Tree Service. It would set you apart, but so would hauling around a pink brush chipper.

I think the pink chipper would be a better investment. That would REALLY get noticed.

Besides, those hunters do 1/2 their own tree work anyway. You might as well appeal to a different sector of the population.

If you park in the woods you may not be able to find your truck.

Looks to me more like a clever job of advertising from a (to this point) one post wonder than a real question.

But I might just be overly skeptical and distrusting.

His Bio says he's a stumper, maybe it would work.

I think it would be better to get a dedicated pattern that is made for marketing. There is a memeber here with a very tasteful design on his pickup.

Might want to re think that, do you want to look like a tree service or a tree stand installer?

Don't try to stop guys like that before they do something mucho stupid. How else are we going to get any good laughs. A tree guy around here asked me a few years ago if I thought his truck would look good with this big zebra graphic on it. "Sure" I told him , "Go for it." If that wasn't bad enough he also put some ignorant looking lion graphic on the hood. What a dumbass. Every time I would see him I would about piss in my pants laughing.

You might have something there.

Assuming the bio is accurate (from Alabama), that would make it a long drive to work, though. The Camo- site is in Evington VA, which would make that a very long drive to work each day.

There's a guy up here that has his chuck n' duck painted to look like a dragon. If I was 5 I'd think it was cool.

I think that would be cool. Everbody loves that Mossey Oak... even the computer programers and such. It will probably go over great in your neck of the woods. The only thing negative I could say is that visabilty for saftey would be compromised so you might need extra road cones.
When it comes time to paint my truck ( after I put the other fender on) I was think of doing something like that rather than painting. How much does that stuff run?

There was Dinosaur Tree Service back in Chestnut Hill. Yup, the chuck and duck all painted like a dinosaur. I still don't get the correlation between trees and dinosaurs without really stretching.

That is about as close as I could come myself to thinking of the method behind the madness. I think they were a couple of drunk brothers outta North Philly or thereabouts.

Man dano, you really like getting on about all these drunk tree guys eh?

A tree guy cant drink anymore or something??

Maybe you need to start smoking again or something. :)

I see they closed down yer other thread eh. Thats too bad it was just getting interesting, lol. Why did I have to miss that one.

Not to put nc down...but it does seem like that five year treeman point is where they get real cocky.

I used to think I knew everything at one point too I suppose. Now I realize I pretty much know nothing in the grand scheme of things - and that it never really stops, well, that is until we croak.

I can see why you got pissed though. Come out to my jobsite, then run home and start talking smack after the fact. not too cool.

Sorry to derail from the camo truck thread guys, lol.

Thanks for the support and I am sorry I had to go off again in another one of my crazed rants... it got us all nowhere and I regret not taking Treeco's advise to just drop it. But I really have to know where Nc got off on that pansy crap. Its just eating me up.
I had a situation with another tree company around here over some missunderstanding and the owner ( a lady) calls me up leaving messages filled with hate and vile. I tried to talked to her and expain that what went down was purely a misunderstand but she was closed to the whole idea of it and would only spout more vile. I was actually pretty disapointed and don't wish to be view as the total cretin she made me to be.
Its one thing to bash a guy and be able to prove he is bashworththy but to go on unfounded really gets under my skin.

You dont have to appoligize to me, that was some funny stuff right there. :)

I just dont want to see you get booted is all - you add alot of color to this place.

Treeco does seem like a smart old bastard indeed. however, I'm not so sure I wouldve been able to let that one go either though. Big dif between twenty yrs exp. and five, seems like the newer guys really hate the fact that no matter what they cant catch up to that. Just an observation based on some of my expieriences in dealing with some of the whack jobs out there.
