Carb tuning/mods for modded saw?

I'll rebuild 'scrapyard' 880 and keep it as 'test mule'- spare saw. Experiment with reed valve, expansion chamber and different carbs and see if I can make this Cylinder work well, be good if I COULD manage to get it to have good torque down low and good power up high. Give me something to play with. Did 'transfer' like this cos stock transfers seemed near impossible to make bigger (to time to 8500 needed to be a little bigger) and keep the same angles with tools I had.
If I want to experiment major anymore I'll get a $100 range chainsaw from Bunnings!

Laid piece of solder wire across piston at right angles to gudgeon pin, wound saw over and measured it. Might have just been two saws out of the ordinary.
