Sawtroll that's a post I've been wating to see for a long time. I have to deal with that off brand whatever the hell they are numbers all the time. I get alot of Huskies, Macs, Cub Cadets, John Deere and other makes coming in for chains all the time. I ususally have to do it by eye because the number system on most of them are as you say, don't tell you schit.

This bar tells you everything you need to know, least one outfit has their act together..

Will that bar fit an 025 or 026 or 029? What is the bar mount number?????

That bar is 3/8, a 026 or 029 is .325 99% of the time. That bar would bolt right on but its the incorrect pitch, and its in plain view to see. You could change the sprocket on those two saws and use 3/8 if ya wanted, then the pictured bar would work.

025 is a different beast altogether though its a .325 pitch saw.

As for bar mount Stihl makes that easy too, you have to buy the Stihl bars at a Stihl dealer and we set you up according to the book, no guessing..

I am having a bad day between my weed whacker and my bar. I just want something to work right..................maybe if I just buy a new saw every time a bar wears out I won't have this problem.....:hmm3grin2orange:

I bet the stihl dealer I stopped by today for some gaskets wouldn't be able to find a bar for my saw. He didn't even sell on pro saw. The closest he had was a 270. 170 180 210 230 250 270 310 390 was it. They displays didn't even have bars on them. What a joke. This forum is far better than he could be.

jhellwig--sounds like have to call baileys--and read the code off the bar to them--may have sent you the wrong GAUGE bar--sounds like you got a 58 instead of a 63---

I just recently bought a 42" Oregon bar from baileys, box and bar printed for 135 drive links.

Actually took 122 DL. Maybe baileys is selling factory rejects???

Sounds like the difference between .404 and .375 to me, the tips are interchangeable. (Or is it a hardnose bar?) Wouldn't be .063 gauge by any chance would it?

According to those links my bar is what it should be.

AM I THE ONLY FOOL THAT BOUGHT ONE OF THESE????????????????????:bang: :bang:

I use Carlton NK bar's and chain's (13",15",18") and have no problems at all :D

;) Maybe the bar you bought is "one of a kind" :dizzy:

I can hear the engineers at Carlton snickering now, another fool bought one of our bars.:)

This is probably just an isolated case of a defective bar. I am sure that a quick call to Baileys will get you back up and running with a new bar. Don't sweat it!

I got this exact same bar for my 026 and it works great. Are you sure your other chain loops are 67 drive links? These bars and the pro-champs seem to take a couple less links than comparable length bars of other makes. The 20" I just got only measures 19" from the clutch cover, and takes only 70 drive links.
It did have some paint in the groove which was gone real quick once fired up.

Fish- he said the bar numbers are 16-42-K367-FC . Seems the young feller just got a bum bar.
As a side note- #14 solid house wire measures about .064" diameter and will fit in a bar groove that is for .063 chain.

I see the problem with the bar now. One of the rails is slightly leaning in. Same rail on both sides. The other rail is fine and all clear of paint.

I am going to contact baily's tomorrow and then go buy a stihl bar and be done with it. I just wish that the 3 stihl dealers here either weren't retarded, high priced or to far away.

If they are, just buy Oregon - not too good, not too bad......:deadhorse:

Allways OK......

Baily's is sending me a new bar. They don't even want the old one back unless I have problems with the new bar. The guy asked me all the basic questions to make sure that I wasn't a tard and told me about the excessive amount of paint they like to put on them.

So now I have a chunk of scrap metal and new bar on the way.

This was my first purchase from baily's and must say that I am impressed. I will be ordering more parts from them in the future.
