Looking for some reviews on the ce lanyard. Every video I can see makes me want it more and more, but haven't found any written or user reviews. It seems to be everyone wants one or assumes they're great, but I've never really heard anyone experience climbing on one. Any feedback is great. Thanks!

Just type: CE Lanyard into the Search... box at the top right hand side of the page.

Their great or at lest the concept is. I made my own, bought a 10 foot 10mm lanyard with a nice alum. snap caribiner, a i2i prussic, and a micropulley and oval alum. caribiner. Cost less then a 100.00 dollars. Use a Vt on it. works great except when covered in sap.

I'm not a fan of using carabiners for the working end of a safety lanyard.

I love using the Kong Tango snap. Quick, light, easy and secure.....

I up graded again my lanyard, the pre-made one I bought for 69.00 dollars didn't hold up at all. The outer cover started fraying real bad, so I went and bought 15 ft of static canyon rope 9.5mm, some 6mm rated accessory cord, cut the clip off my old/new lanyard and used it on this new one. Cost 20.00 for the rope and I had everything else.

I have the same set up but use a Distel hitch. I use a mechanical adjuster on sappy trees

I was interested in the CE lanyard also...........until i saw the price. Over here it can be anywhere from $300 to $350 for the shortest length.

Luckily i was placing a large order around the same time with Treestuff so i held off and ordered some extra stuff when i made the order and made my own to the same style.

Samson arbormaster bluestreak $20
Sterling thimble prusik $20
DMM pinto pulley $43
Climbing Tech alloy snap $15

Already had new:
Marlow Viper 8mm spliced eye2eye
Kong ovalone auto biner

So for around the $100 mark i have got a lanyard with the exact same flexibility as the Teufelberger one.
The marlow viper is a real nice friction cord. Not a very well known company here or the US. Comes from the UK. I like it better than Ocean poly that i have currently on my climb hitch.

I just got mine a few days ago and have only got to use it once so far. Love, love, LOVE it. Already. Wether you make your own or go all in for the pretty pre fab one, get on one! You won't be disappointed. :)

Guys,

What size of rope is fine for the lanyard?
I made a similar on as Matt did but I only had 12 mm rope at that moment.

I found it a little bit bulk.

And what kind o material?
Nylon 100% or Polyester/nylon core or 100% polyester?

I have on little doubt to ask:

If I have such big and branched tree, wichi I may use 2 ropes or 2 big lanyards.
Should this ropes been like 2 climbing ropes, or 2 big lanyard ropes to promote balance and good branch walking?

I'm kinda confused.

All the best!

I used 9.5 mm on mine and love it. Maybe not the best if whipping up a big spar on spiikes, but for spikeless cliimbing I feel it's perfect. Using the smaller dia. allows you to manage a longer lanyard.
As far as your other question; two ropes or two lanyards, it takes what it takes. But 90% of the time one lanyard and one climbing line is all you need. Especially using the longer lanyard.
I occasionally use two climbing lines in some trees, even more so now I climb SRT a lot. I'll access the tree SRT, but depending on the tree I'll switch back and forth to double rope, sometimes using all three at the same time. But I'm finding my new 15 ft lanyard fills a lot of gaps and really comes in handy.
