Cutters depends on full comp, semi skip or full skip. I'll assume you'd be talking about full comp on a bar that short, in which case it is 33. Are you building a chain from scratch? You typically don't see chains measured in terms of cutter numbers.

Yeah cutting from a hundred foot roll. What do I do about the odd amount of cutters?

There'll be two in a row of left or right cutters where the loop ends meet. Nature of the beast.

uh guys... as you probably figured out, it's not 66 "cutters", but 66 drive links... Just count the tangs... and it won't matter what chain you have or where it ends/joins.

The best solution is to use the Oregon or Stihl Chain measuring guide - $10-15 I think. You just stretch out the chain, hook it over the nail for the right chain size, and punch it where the driver count is right for your bar length. The Guide covers all common chain pitches out to about 41 inches.
