I have added a couple of pictures of the top of my chain.
The brown spots, must be oil and sawdust. Should they be there or should they not? To much oil not enough? Thanks guys you are great:greenchainsaw:

looks like sap from the wood or possibly dirt. I have run into that while cutting differant kinds of wood. Ash will leave a sappy residue like that. Don't think it is oil related at all.

That is perfectly normal. Do not worry. Actually that chain looks like it's in good shape.

Nothing to worry about, that stuff is normal. I get it on my chains all the time when I'm cutting any kind of wood.

Yep, and sometimes its a lot darker than whats on your chain too. Not to worry. Every now and then I spray a little of the "Purple" cleaner from Wal Mart on the chain and wipe it off. No big deal.
