Chain Tensioner Question

The tensioner on one of my macs is worn right down, it barely catches the hole in the bar. It was like that when I got it from the previous owner, never been an issue at all.

On another note, I have a small pioneer saw that has a spring loaded bar tensioner. A neat idea I haven't seen before on other saws

Like the spring loaded belt tensioner on a cutoff saw.

Yeah. We have tree company that one of the guys wants an 8 pin on a 24 or 28, I forget. But, makes the chain too short for the tensioner. I told them I could fix it one way or another. He said it was not a problem.
