I have had a Poulan 2150 for 3 years now and it has been working well until now. I had to cut some fallen tree limbs, so I took the saw out of the garage. I replaced the fuel with a 40:1 mixture of fresh gas to 2 cycle engine oil. The chain saw is also filled with fresh Poulan Pro Bar & Chain Oil. The air filter & spark arrestor are both clean. When I try to crank it up, I pull the choke to full, turn the ON/OFF swith to on, prime the engine, and lock the trigger, all like the manual says. I pull the string and the engine cranks up and begins to idle. I squeeze the trigger and the chain turns. Then I push the choke in, and the engine immediately dies. Did this over 10 times. I tried to adjust the carb and screwed it up. So I turned the High and Low screws to 1 turn from stop point. It doesn't crank up at all now. What did I do wrong!! Help me please b/c my driveway has a tree accross it and I need to move it. Thanks

I would take the carb out and spray some carb cleaner in it. To me is sounds like the carb is dirty and will only fun when you prime it. I would start with that.

Looks like you have to open the carb and clean it at least because the fuel is not coming. You could check the fuel filter at first, but i doubt that will be the problem.

so the carb is dirty? Are you sure? I am not that great of a mechanic, but I think I can open the carb and clean it. Is it hard?

Go ahead and be sure to install diaphrams and gasket at the same position.Check also if the inlet needle is not sticking. If you got air, blow the carb or spray with cleaner.Should not be a big deal to remove the carb.

no it is pretty easy on most saws all it is is two nuts and a fuel line. I would just take it out and spray some carb cleaner in it. It should fire up then after they sit for awhile then they get all gummed up. With my experience poulans dont like to start even when they have a clean carb.

Yeah guys; but, how does he get the carb jets back where they belong. On a Stihl it has a diagram on the side showing 1 turn or 1/4 turn etc. There is no such diagram on the Poulan as I recall. Should he screw in the H and L jets and then back out 1 turn on each???? Maybe he can go on line and find a Poulan user's guide, etc. to help him out unless one of you guys has a Poulan and knows the answer. I just sold my Poulan yesterday so I can't go check it out.

The basic adj should be 1 turn out on each needle, should be able after to fine tune it if he has a bit of experience with adjusting.

Throw it in the garbage and go rent a Stihl for the day. Rental, $20.00, fuel to get it, $6.50, not having to run a Poulan,....PRICELESS. :)

Considering Louisiana just got hit by two hurricanes I don't think their are going to be to many stores that have chainsaws to rent in stock but I might be wrong.

Before you get too carried away, I would try things all over again. I would bet you flooded the saw. While idling it was try to burn the excess fuel in the carb and when you hit the trigger it flooded it out, thats why it died.

I have a Partner 351, which I think is a rebadged Poulan 2150.
Off with the limiters, and one turn from bottom posision on H and L screws did the trick on that one, after the carb adjustment had been badly messed up.

Did you remember to remove the limiters before trying to readjust?
