It finally arrived after a delay in publication and/or shipping.

This is one heck of a book. The pictures are beautiful! Lots of good information, too. A definite must-have for anyone interested in saws, especially in restoring and running the oldies. It would make a great coffee table book, too. Definitely a Computeruser-endorsed product.

Hay CompU, could you take a pic of each and every page so as we can review it before buying?:biggrinbounce2:

Do you think we could do some Mods to improve the reading experiance?:hmm3grin2orange:

OK, enough kidding around, where did you pick this up at?

Good one. I'll set the camera and tripod up when I get home and set to work on it. Sure. :biggrinbounce2:

As for mods for the reading experience, the nature of a book lends itself primarily to improvements being made at the manufacturer's end. For example, I would enjoy a bit more info to accompany the pictures (technical info, teardown pictures showing internals, stuff like that) but the book does give a good overview of the early development, some of the lesser-known manufacturers, stuff like that. Oh, and I'd like a way to get all the pics in the book in high quality digital format, too, so I could have them printed and framed.

The book came by way of Amazon, though an unsuccessful attempt was first made to contact Mike Acres through his site, since he was offering it for sale there and I would have preferred to buy it from him.

This is a fun book to have around, I think. The photography is very good, and it has given me renewed impetus to work on a couple of my oldies that have been sitting around untouched for years. I would liken it to one of those old car or vintage aircraft books, where there is some good info, a bit of history, and a lot of first rate photography. I think this will be our coffeetable book for the next while, replacing the encyclopedia of dog breeds that is usually out there.

 I figured probably square chisel, but now that you mention it, buy her that book.... and you might get to find out!!!!:hmm3grin2orange: :hmm3grin2orange: I bought my wife a 20 ga 870 once for her birthday, she wasn't near as excited about it as I thought she'd be:hmm3grin2orange: But I sure like it !
