Oliver, if you saw me running that thing, you'd fall asleep from boredom! o_O I'm SLOW!!! I have used his Bobcat Toolcat to move some big rocks around on our property, though!
When Doug first had that pad poured, I couldn't really understand why he needed it, but now I see how much it helps out!

HAPPY FRIDAY!!

What are the plans for the splits? Will they just go in a pile or are you planning to load trailers as they come off the splitters?

Stack the splits on pallets. Many types of pallets.

I move the pallets around with pallet forks.

Some are 1/3 , 2/3 cord and some are 1 full cord (128 cubic feet)

IASpeedway.jpg Was talking with a couple of my racing friends tonight. There is a good chance I'll have a couple helpers along.

Any of you want to see the NW race on Sunday, PM me and when our seats/camping are set, I'll let you know where we're at. Normally we camp somewhere in the black circle on the map:

I think that is the first time I have seen lattice for pallet sides. I definitely makes them more attractive as well as helping keeping the piles intact.

Is that netting on some of the pallets? If so, what is your system for holding the wood in place while you wrap?

The lattice I got on clearance for $6 a sheet. The wrap is sheep and goat fence. I use 200 lb out door cable ties to hold the wire to the heavyweight plastic pallets. 50 lb ties did not hold.

I just fill them from the top. Mostly odd pieces that don't stack well.

Hopefully Doug can spread the word at the next couple of events & we'll get a lot of help! I think after the IA GTG on April 25/26, we'll start a list.

The biggest log is about 36 inches by 13 ft. I will need to set them aside for me to split. But others with big saws can have some fun cutting them. Attached is a video of me splitting the bigger stuff. It works great for big wood but not the smaller wood.

Mrs Sam-tip makes a great Oatmeal raisin cookies. If we are lucky I will bring some down on the April 4th.

I don't mind splitting larger rounds by hand. I find it kind of therapeutic to be honest. I still plan on being there.

Now that Doug (sam-tip) has been to a charity cut, he's got a better idea of how to set everything up here at our place. Depending on if it's wet or dry...hopefully DRY! Sounds like the MO Cut was a huge success! Looking forward to getting some wood stockpiled here so we can help folks later this summer or early fall.

I'm going to try and make it up to your Charity Cut also. Maybe I can talk Ed into coming up too.
