Chicago Mall

I am a small engine repair student. I saved a Mall 1MG 43120 G 26188. From being scraped. I was looking for info on it. I think all that is wrong with it is the points/condencer, & coil. Any info would be nice.

Hi Drew,
You definitely picked an old one. Might be able to find parts or other info on the saw from a collector/restorer on Mike Acres site.

Nice old saw, something special about Mall's, even used 30 weight oil in it's mix.

I didn't know Mall was still building saws as late as 1953. By then Mac and Homelight were the standard in the woods.

I figured even if I couldn't get it running that it would be nice to have. I think all that is wrong (other then not being run in forever) is the points have gone out in it. can I use any points like from another small engine in it?

I dont know if the Atom module would work or not, but its an idea.

If I can get it running, would it be best to use it, start it every once in a while, or hang it up & not worry about it?

having to give the old saw back. the guy wants it back now, anyone one about what one is worth spending to buy?

I have an old Mall Model 12A. Let me know if you are interested and I will send you some pics. It is a complete saw. It is very similar to the 1mg model that you got a hold of. It does not run and I am not sure what it would need to get it running again. The man that I bought it from told me it was running just a few years ago. I bought it for a project saw but I have too many other projects going on right now. It is in great shape considering its age.
