That's what I did. I put cement board directly above the stove, two sheets of it. Fire proof sheet rock would have been ok I guess, but like I said, nobody wants to wake up the the beeping of a fire alarm
 
I used a 9" section of triple wall then the T just to get the chimney off the house a little.

Look up item #36626-1851 in the northern tool website or catalog. Also 36628-1851 is the 3foot sections of pipe
 
Can I use a single wall 6" stove pipe from the stove; through the wall and directly to a double/triple wall 'T' and chimney? It's a Clay liner through a block wall.

Also what would you guys do for finishing and insulating around the stove?


If you follow the clearance requirements, you can use whatever. Drywall probably the better choice though.

Yes you can. Honestly though, you are going to want to transition to the double wall asap though.

I suggest you down load the duravent catalog then call their tech support. Tell them you are installing a stove in the basement which has a 6" round clay thimble penetration which exits above grade to the outside of the house. Ask them what they would use to connect the stove using that clay thimble to the exterior pipe.
