Seen the boss's cell phone disappear into the chipper. And then there was the idiot company I worked for in Kabul, SNC Lavalin PAE, that bought and shipped a chipper all the way to Afghanistan from the port of Montreal to chip plastic bottles, which it failed miserably at(they tended to melt). There was not a tree within 50 klicks of the place, and if there was, the Afghans would have burned it for fuel...

It was a not small Vermeer 1000 as I recall.

Ran a climber's rope, buckle and all, through the chipper years and years ago. :)

About three weeks ago we had a contract to clean up by a beach and something almost went into the chipper that made my blood run cold: fishing line. About 40 or 50 feet of it. It was all mixed into some branches one of the guys carrying brought over.

Can you imagine that stuff flying in, invisible, wrapping itself around your hand or arm and cutting to the bone like a razor blade while it pulls you in. Maybe it doesn't bother the next guy so much but it made my nuts go up into my stomach.

We through a projection TV through a track chipper , that was pretty cool like the 4th of JULY , some old tires , I wanted to trow a propane bottle through but the boss thought it may be too much , (what a buzzkill) he was , almost anything besides concrete or steel that you find on a lot clear is free game ...

chipped

we put a 15lb carp in a 1250 one time, fish and chips anyone? :msp_confused:

by some bizzare coincidence,
after reading through all this stuff we were doing a removal today and found a possum had crawled up inside a hollow of the barrel. The only way we knew it was there was from all the fluff that suddenly started coming out of the cut. And then the blood. By the time anyone realised what had happened, another chunk of barrel was on the ground, with a possum head inside. The rest went into a bag, which went into the chipper! Went straight through in one quit 'blat'.

At least it didn't go to waste.

Buddy of mine ran his new 395xp thru his 22" morbark w/grapple. Can't believe he couldn't see orange in the brush pile. Big time damage to both. Another guy found a piece of 3/4" rebar the hardway tore the drum right off the chipper. And down at the repair shop I saw what happens when a guy trys to use a pry to unclog a jam while the blade is still running, opened the whole housing of his disc chipper like a can opener.

Had log tongs go through a bc1000. Tore up the knives,a and chute. We use a aluminum grain shovel for cleanup a pushing material into the feedwheels just in case, a case that has happened many times. We always throw copperhead snakes through the chipper when we find them.
