Looking to see if anyone knows about what a Morbark 200 woud be worth. I found one at a local dealer it has been through their shop repainted and stickered. They say it runs great. It's a 1988 but the only thing is nobody knows whats up with the hour meter. It reads 71686 and 0 1/10. I've been around a lot of equipment but that can not be the actual hours can it?
Anyway everything seems sound on it and they are asking 7950 they won't go any lower. Does this sound about right for a 20 year old machine?

I dont go much by hour meters, they stop, start & can be irregular check on the PM(prevent maint.) they should have the paperwork showing what all has been done.

a machine that has been maintained regularly with high hrs to me is better than a machine with the opposite, the price seems high but with man hrs, parts and profit that might be where it is. Good Luck!

What motor is in it? We had An 88 200 that we bought new with a cummings 4BT in it paid $18000 new. That sounds like to much money for that old of a chipper. If you do buy it make sure it has the updated feed chute installed, the original was only about 12" from the feed wheel

Don't know to much about the motor other that it is a gas engine. Think I'll keep looking.

I doubt the hr meter is correct. If it is it will have run 8 yrs Straight 24/7 LOL

When I worked for my father as an agi mechanic hour meters broke all the time. Check the cable off the back of the hour meter it should screw off like you TV cable see if the guts inside turn in both parts. This will help you determine if the hours are true, which I doubt. Another quick check on the engine is oil, is there metal filings, also check the compression if you don't have access to a compression gauge you kinda tell by putting your hand on the drive shaft and starting to turn if you can rotate is all the way around run run for the hills. Also does it smoke, does it turn over a lot even after it has been running before it starts. I could go on. Drop me a line if you need more things to look at.
