I started to put this under the Christmas project thread and realized it was the wrong spot, so I started a new thread. I guess the families big present is on it's way down stairs. Our Burnese Mountain Dog is in labor. The exrays show five pups coming. I've been down with her all night and was getting bored. I went back in my shop to touch up my 36 inch chain. I've had my Dad's old Craftsman 5" bench vice in the original box sitting down there for several years. Dad passed away on Arbor Day 5 years ago. The box was taped up just like Dad had put it away. When I tried to open it I realized the heavy staples were still in the box. It was brand new and I didn't know it. Opened it up and it was shiny gray with Made In America cast in it. Thanks Dad. I C-clamped it onto the bench and put the 36" bar in it and started to work on the chain. Later today I'm puting the 36" Granberg on Dads old Super 1050 I just got running and try my first slabbing cut. It's on an old dead Poplar that is heavily spalted. The Granberg is my present from the family. I've gotta get back down stairs incase the new momma needs help. Merry Christmas All, Joe.

Well, I posted this thread at 7:54 yesterday, and got back down stairs at 7:58 and Macy was having contractions and the first pup came at 8:21. She had 5 little boys. They are all marked beautifully, and we have homes for all of them already. The breeder has pick of the litter and she really wanted a little girl. The other 4 families all wanted boys, but would have taken a girl if they had to.

I stayed home to make sure she was gentile with them and didn't step on one and hurt it, she did fine. I missed all of the present giving and food, I guess I'll survive. Merry Christmas all, Joe.

Congratulations on the healthy pups! Dogs are one of my favorite parts of God's creation.

I got 3 presents this year that you guys would appreciate:

A chainsaw safety vest (whe gave it to me on Christmas eve as I was on my way to take a standing dead 28" DBH red oak with my brother).

Good job paw holding through the birth. I'm sure your family appreciates the dedication.

I have that tree field guide. You'll love it. It got me hooked on learning all about tree identification. I've got other at home books now but this guide comes with me on almost every trip to help my memory. Nice presents...books and doggies.
