Chrome bore cylinder question

As I've said before I've been a motorcycle mechanic for years, I'm new here and also new to working on chainsaws and I have a question. Can chrome plated chainsaw cylinders be re-chromed like motorcycle cylinders? There are a couple places that do motorcycle & snowmobile cylinders - I know I could just ask them, but I wondered if anyone here has had it done?

They can be rechromed or done in Nikasil but will cost more than a new cylinder.
