I wrote a post in injurys and fatalities about my accident a few weeks ago. Right now I'm still hospitalized I probably won't see my saws until the end of sept. I might end up with a leg brace for alittle while. Does anyone out there have a disability and still climbs I'm looking for ideas and advice as to how they do it, and or am I just dreaming that I'm going to be able to do this anymore.

Listen every climber I have ever met had a handicap of some kind whether it is mental or physical lol , so you climb to your ability and as for the brace , do you really think it would be smart to put more strain on a injury , don't think short term unless your completely comfortable with the possible poor outcome of rushing back into it , ya know what I mean

your body will adapt and you will find other ways of doing it. right after i bought a brand new truck for my company i got GBS syndrome wich caused me to be paralized from the kneck down for 6 months. had to be on life support ventalator and the whole nine yards. they told me to look for a new profession. i cant move a good portion of my feet but am still able to climb just not as good as i once was. takes me a few extra minutes now. i hope this helps and that your able to get back into it also. i almost lost my ass due to having to lay on my back for 6 months and the muscle deteriation took almost a year to come back. i still have a whole the size of a quarter that goest straight to my stomache till this day been thier for almost 3 years now. i just put an ace bandage around it before i go up.

good luck and i hope everything works out.

the wraptor makes life a little easier when you gotta get up thier with a bad injury.

I would say you were probably dreaming from the start like many of us do. Go ahead live your dreams, tie in next time too. Personally, you guys who operate like that scare me amost as bad as falling myself.

Listen man my brother in law got hit with 22k volts something like 130 amps while guiding a pipe in a hole from a boom truck... truck got too close to overhead wires and the power that was suppose to be disconnected. They told his family he wouldnt live, if he did he would most likely lose his arm and maybe his leg, at best he would never walk again and not be able to use his arm. I am happy to say other then massive scaring, his hand being somewhat fused, with little feeling he has recovered very well and can do anything he did before he may have some limitations or need to use variations in how he does certain things but it hasnt stopped him from anything... My point being NO MATTER WHAT THEY SAY it doesnt always mean its correct... You may have to take it slow at first but Ill bet you end up back up aloft again... good luck... take it slow.

I lost 30% of the use of my left shoulder due to a fall from a power pole a couple of yrs. ago. Mostly affects me when I work above shoulder level. Had to learn to live with constant pain but as far as work goes I just position myself where I can work downwards with my left arm. Just climb a little higher.

First, follow all the doctor's order for faster recovery and don't baby yourself. If your condition is still within the range of having a chance to be back to your optimum level of functioning then you wouldn't have to worry. Take things easy and when you're back to your usual self then do the climbing. Listen to these guys' stories. It's not the end of the world.
