Naw, I'll pass on visiting the pen...drive by there on 51 on the way in...I go to Parkview Liquors in Queen city, buy National Bohemian/Iron City beer, not available in the Commonwealth of Va.

Be sure and get a nice hot wood fire burning before adding the coal. Coal burns the best when the combustion air comes from UNDER the grates. be sure and add enough coal to make a difference. if you just spread it out a bit on the fire you won't see much of a difference.

Also, be ready to buy another ton because once you start burning coal you will be hooked on the burn times.

I burn 95% wood but on the real cold nights (below zero) I toss in a couple round pointed shovels full before bed and in the morning it's 80 in the house.Throw in about 1/2 to 2/3 of a load of wood then some coal and top off with wood. This is what works for me. Try a small amount of coal on your first load and if it works ok then try more until you get the burn time you want. Too many people load it up with coal and think it's going to work their first time. Coal takes a little self education . And ,, like KTM says you'll get hooked on the burn times.
