Is that really the notch they were trying to use? The big cut out section on the opposite side?
 
The tree does not look as if it was in the process of being removed from what I can see.

Looks as if the wind/decayed trunk is responsible..do not understand why the rope is on there though.
 
This already has been hashed over on tr**buzz. It looks as though they cut off some front material, either an old snag or another trunk. The slice cuts or whatever they made, perhaps some cuts into the trunk also, its hard to tell, allowed it to fall backwards, where all it's weight appeared to be anyhow.

Love the short rope tied to an old piece of small gauge chain... nice leverage too, eh?!!


I didnt drop this one on the house.....but took it off, for $3400.
