here's the pics of the craftsman 2.1 that im workin on, as well as the XX that im trying to revive. as you can see from the pictures, the plug wire boot has come off as well as the wire that connects to the plug, anyone know where I can get one of these, or if anyone has one laying around I would be willing to pay for it, I think that's the only thing wrong with it.

Besides for the crappy power sharp(dull) feature on it, it should be a decent saw for general stuff. I would think. any information would be appreciated.

also does anyone have the IPL for this saw?http://anthonywarren.parazz.com

I cant get any of the pics to come up on any of your post with pics. Oh well.

pics link

the pics are at the link at the top of the post, make sure you install flash player 8 to get them to come up correctly.

It looks like the plug connector has been twisted to unwind about a half turn . If the plugwire is not corroded couldn't you rewind the connector to the proper shape then use a sharp awl to start the hole for the connector to reassemble the boot and connector ? My guess for a parts manual would be ebay . Did you check the points and condenser on the 2.1 ?

I would like to try to put it back together but Im not sure how it was together originally, and as far as the condenser and points, I would have to have a guide or something to check that, I dont know even know where to start when checking those things.

Plug wire repair:

Feed the tension lead through the boot. Reach ito the plug end with needle nose pliers and pull the lead through the opening. Take the wire, put in in position, press sharp single end through the insulation with the pliers to contact the wire. Slowly pull the wire back until the wire is in position in the boot. Point gap is 17 thousandths.

no spark

I started to take a look at the spark plug issue this evening, and just out of interest, I pierced the high tension lead with the plug connector end, and stuck on a plug, grounded it to the case and gave it a few pulls, no spark. HMMM........... could it be the coil? I dont know, is there a way to test the coil? any other suggestions?

For $5 bucks get you a inline spark tester. My little XX showed no spark when done like you just did to test for spark too. But when I put on a inline spark tester it showed spark. Less chance for grounding error IMO.
Looks like this one in the link.
