There have been many threads here over the years asking about Craftsman, Sears, and David Bradley chainsaws.

The list that I've complied (copied & pasted below) focuses on Craftsman chainsaws. There are lengthy lists that can be found on the internet that list all (???) manufacturers of Sears products.

As I've noted on the list, and it bears repeating, the list I've compiled might not be complete and/or accurate. Please share any additional information, corrections, etc.

Craftsman (Sears) Chainsaw Manufacturers--Who Made Them,

By The Craftsman Model Number Prefix

Revised--June 06, 2016

Please note:
1. This list is probably not complete.
2. This list might not be totally accurate.
3. It most likely includes some companies that did not make chainsaws for Craftsman (Sears), and excludes some who did.
4. At the end of the list I’ve added Misc Info for some models numbers that are “new” and/or the info is unclear.

129 Mono

143 Tecumseh

234 Poulan

271 Kioritz (Echo)

283 Thomas Industries

316 MTD Note—Also see Misc Info.

358 Poulan Note—Also see Misc Info.

360 Solo Note: This was possibly a one chainsaw model only deal. Craftsman model 360-352010 = Solo 651SP. It was possibly only offered for a short time. There might have been other Solo products sold under the Craftsman name.

517 Homelite

636 Echo

733 Fairbanks Morse

917 Roper Note—Sears also used this prefix on chain saws labeled Sears and/or David Bradley.

944 Husqvarna Note—Also see Misc Info.

Misc Info:

316 MTD Note—Craftsman offers a chainsaw, using model # 41AY429S799, which traces back to MTD.

358 & 944 Note--Craftsman has confused matters by offering a Craftsman Pro Series line which they list & label as being made by Husqvarna (with higher prices) using the 358 model prefix which usually indicates Poulan. Husqvarna owns Poulan. I haven’t yet been able to determine if the Craftsman Pro Series are Husqvarna, Poulan, or perhaps a hybrid. I’ve seen photos of one ID plate that shows Husqvarna Sweden.

358 Poulan Note--Craftsman incorrectly used the Poulan 358 prefix on a Redmax chainsaw. Model 358.362180 is Redmax, possibly the GZ4000.

You can also search
sears manufacturers cross by prefix

and come up with links to more info

I mentioned the availability more complete lists in my post. I have two downloaded & saved, one list is done numerically and one is done alphabetically.

RE Solo, it isn't a chainsaw but there was a craftsman badged solo leaf blower that was sold for a while. I owned one. Excellent blower.

Thanks. That's good to know.

If anyone is so inclined this could be researched by searching the Sears site for any models starting with the 360 prefix.

Hey folks I have a craftsman 358.354870 chainsaw .... any ideas where I can locate a rebuild kit for it .
The saw is the best saw I've ever owned and would love to continue using it .
Any help would really make my day..

Looks like it's made by Poulan. Poulan or Craftsman 3.7 is where I would start the search.
Thanks for your reply . I have tried to find one on several sites . I found the cylinder and piston use on one site but felt for a used part it was a bit high . Considering g I gave 20 dollars for the complete saw and all I needed to do was clean carb . It ran great for sometime 7ntil I lent it to a friend and it came back with the plug blown out of it and cylinder cracked...

If it is the grey 3.7 it will be poulan 3800. If it is the red one it can be 3800 or 3700. Most of them that came with the PS I seen were 3800 though.

Everything OEM is almost NLA.
No real rebuild kits unless aftermarket.

If 3800 bare bore too. You can put as sets 3400 56cc, 3700 3800 61cc, 4000 64cc on them if you find used.

Parts worth more then saws so get used to that. Better to buy more dead used and get parts stocked up. ;)

While not everything is in stock, this does have some diaphragm and other stuff, and it gets you the diagrams and part numbers to reference to continue to search elsewhere.

You might get more input if you would start a NEW discussion post. this one is years old.
Post up some pic's of your saw.

You might do a want to buy post.

I would set it back and watch out for some parts saws.

A lot better small saw vs the Poulan Craftsman is a Poulan S25CVA. They are strong built reliable little saws and will pull a 16 inch chain and lots of parts and complete parts saws scattered around. EASY TO work on also. Lots of you tube videos of how to repair/replace most everything, fuel lines, etc. Most are lime green but I've seen few that are different color.
Be sure that it's a S25CVA. You can see videos of such. They were made with points and electronic ign, counter vibration, roller bearings. Homelite built their EZ to compete with them. The S25CVA's were built back when Poulan made good saws. I've got 3 with carrying case's that I use for trim saws when doing firewood. I also have larger Stihl saws for felling but find myself using the S25CVA's even for dropping trees if the logs are not large.
