interesting to see all the ways people find to do the same task

a few of them make me think , I like my fingers to much to use that method.

but it makes me realize , they all have very pretty strait grained wood compared to what I am splitting .

I get mostly sugar maple and if it isn't a knot chances are it is twisted grain I though about a 4 way wedge to increase production but realized I would spend nearly as much time switching the wedge to more efficiently do the strait stuff than I would gain because so much of my wood is irregular.

a lot of the stuff they split in the video looks like it should be made into furniture and not fire wood

Cool stuff. The ones that scream BAD IDEA to me are the ones that do their thing without the operator pulling a lever or otherwise initiating the action.

right! I wasn't too excited about the inertia splitter... that the operator had to grab the ram and manually retract it! and bare handed at that! I did like the high on the ski slope moto running the big saw mill blade as a 'rear tire'! innovative set up...

a buddy of mine from HS was in the firewood business big time up in Seattle... brought the logs down on an 18-wheeler logging truck... put the entire log into his splitter and then prceeded to go to town. he could fill up the back of a dump truck I minutes... quite the rig! especially to see it in action! ~

Sb47 Thanks for the post it always nice to see how other folks make firewood. In my area I have almost give up on my six way wedge once in a while we will run some ash and the six way really shines most of the time I am running locust and hedge and the multi wedge just gets moved up out of the way.
