I have a Homelite UT10799 R (N3014) and it has a PT16371-md bar and a 984296008 chain. Can someone assist me in figuring what bar/chain combination would be appropriate from oregon or is there something better for this saw? Thanks.

with the part # you said you had 984296008 that tells me its made in china so my guess if you look closely at your stickers labels on the saw you will see im correct on the button that your Homelite saw was made in China

therefore Oregon 2008 catalog dont show a Bar and Chain kit for that model Saw if you like Homelite i would urge you to find a good American made Used saw on ebay and get it and restore it a SXLAO if you can just get your hands on one then you can re build it by putting a new cylinder and piston and ring and all in it you will then have a saw that will last you for around 20 or more years

and if you say parts are hard to find for them sxlao saws i have news for you i have two cylinders and about 4 pistons on my shelf for them saws

if i were you i would take that saw to Home depot and tell them you want your money back

then go buy you a good american made saw

if i offended you im sorry but i had to tell you the truth about where your saw was manufactured at

since Home depot does not tell there customers didlisquat

Here is an illustrated parts list for the saw. Looks like it shares a common size bar and chain for quite a few Homelite models. 16" bar, 3/8" low pro-chain. Should cross reference to Oregon 16" bar #160DGEA041 and a 91 VG chain with 56 drive links. But a 91 VX chain would be a faster cutting chain.

Good sales pitch- "Your saw is crap. You need to go on E-bay and buy a blown up 30 year old saw. After that I will sell you all the parts you need to have a fully restored 30 year old saw. It's much better american-made quality."

Who cares what the guy has for a saw, he's just looking for help finding a bar and chain. :spam:

There are many sponsors here that will gladly help you with a bar and chain. I have a few also if you are interested.

Thanks for the replies. I know the saw is not the best quality and trust me, I'm not offended by any comments. I've had this for 15 years and take care of my stuff. The saw engine is mechanically fine, but I need a bar and chain and thought oregon would be better. So I think if I get a bar and chain, I'll be good to go. I'll review again all the comments and figure out who has the bar and chain. Thanks.

Contact Bailey's, or Oregon directly. I also have a homelite that came with an 18" bar and chain. I dont use it much any more since I got my Dolmar, but it still runs well. It is a 45 CC Timberman, and I am thinking of putting a 14" or 16" bar on it to use for light work around the home.

Other than it being a little light for what I was doing, it ran well for several years, and I cut a lot of wood with it.

If you have the model numbers some one can find a bar for you.

Bar and chain information

Go to the Oregon chain website. There is alot of good information there that explains what chains and bars exist in the industry and what they offer also by Mfg and Model. Good luck. I suggest you buy from a AS supporter/member when your ready...........J

16 " guide bar power tip 3/8"

is there a way you can take a photo of the bar mount so we can try to match the bar mount to a possible bar mount

i have also checked the GB catalog and seem to cannot locate that model series in the Homelite section if this was purchased 15 years ago its possible it was when John Deere had the line

however i did locate on the GB catalog a lonely 3014 model without the N in the front its possible that could be the one GB # PO16-50

which is 40 cm called length .050 groove gauge 56 drive links in the powertech series bar

so if you can get the mounting picture of the bar mount on the bar its possible i narrowed it down to a GB bar since oregon dont show anything for a model 3014 but GB does

if you have a GB catalog its on page 45 4 th column down

the bar mount pattern is the same as a oregon A041 / K041 mount

the center span on the bar 8.2 mm in size
if you can confirm that mount pattern then you have found the part # for the bar all thats left is matching that bar number to a chain of your choice

sorry about the previous post i was thinking them 9 digit numbers was making me think the saw was fairly new i did not know it was over 10 years old

thanks
calvin

hope this helps you

on finding the correct replacement

Thanks again Calvin, it appears after looking at the picture of the Oregon 160DGEA041, that it might be the appropriate replacement. I need to double check mine. I'll try and get a photo in here of the mount.

Here are a couple pictures of the mount which makes me think the Oregon 160DGEA041 will work.
