WHY?......im just not seeing what this certification will do for some one...

Despite many commendable efforts and individual successes with safety over time, accidents continue to increase in tree care. This reputation as an industry that cant seem to keep its workers safe is one that hurts our ability to recruit and retain employees, reduces consumer confidence in our abilities, and shrinks our profits when accidents and injuries raise our costs of doing business.

The Certified Treecare Safety Professional program was designed to address several of the challenges to safety that tree care companies face. More than a straightforward "safety trainer" credentialing program, CTSP teaches safety professionals strategies and tactics for changing the very "culture" of their organization. A Certified Treecare Safety Professional is able not only to coach his/her team in safe work practices, but also work to change attitudes about safety and motivate other employees to want to participate.

To move forward as an industry and become safer, we need more than standards and requirements. We need an industry-wide commitment to a culture of safety. Through CTSP, a culture of safety can be developed one company and one individual at a time, and as this happens, our industry will be transformed from what it is today.

If ISA had a certified tomcat turd checker credential you would be on here pitching it. Aren't you on their payroll? Seriously though, anything that makes us safer is good.

Making more $$$ has nothing to do with it. Having and promoting a safer enviroment in the work place and lowering workers comp. insurance has a lot to do with it.

Promoting safety in the work place is good & basically just commonsense, as far as lowering rates???? that is based on the company & their claim rate (atleast where im at)

I just think ISA has geared themselves for single type certification while Tcia is geared for business certification, hell the recent issue of TCIA has a guy who thinks licensing is going to make our industry more safe :dizzy: He was upset with why more companies arent accredited...

I can understand the CA credential but.....Accredited/CTSP....:dizzy: honestly these are unnecessary IMO, who is TCIA to Accredit anyone? they are an organization to promote treecare, The BBB accredits businesses & they suck!!....you want to be accredited?...go through the proper Govt. agency for business accredidation or the Small Biz association.

As for the CTSP.............again what is the worth? Id rather have my whole crew trained in safety & there is alot of tailgates/books & video on it! only in the tree care field......!!

Thats what I wanna do: im gonna start offering credentials....LOL, like accredited & charge good money for it, regardless if you get the same from the small biz assoc. Mine is better!!! & as for safety.......how about "Tree safety Warden"??? $500.00 & 1000 Ceu`s over 5 years...cause this safety program saves lives!!!!!

C`mon guys when are we gonna say enough is enough already? pretty soon you wont know who is worth a dam cause everyone will be certified at something............& with little to no experience to boot!!

Like i said i can't endorse it; never even checked it out. just cutandpasted from the TCIA website in an effort to chill lxt; fat chance.

O and mckee you got your orgs mixed up...and if you read closely you'll see I'm a major critic of both. Nope no payroll, but if you want to tell em to send me chex that would be dandy. :)
