So I've been compiling my client list and I'm up to 400. What do you use to keep track of your customer database? Can anyone recommend some decent software?

There are several different was to accomplish this. It all comes down to your computer skills, and how you want to track the information. It could be as simple as using Excel, or setting up a little Access database. By using Excel you can put in the contact information such as first name last name address and notes. When you want to look up a customer you just do a find any will come up. If you create an Access DB you could search by lest say zip code and everyone in the zip code will come up. The good thing about Access you can get back more than person as in the zip code example, or just search by name.

I'm sure there are other programs that will keep track of customer info, but I have found that they need a lot of tweaking to get the correct information that you want to store.

If you want some help with the Access DB drop me a PM, and I’ll see what I can do.

You may want to look into ACT software....it is a contact manager software....it allows you to store all kinds of information on customers and contacts.

ACT is basically an access database which is already set up to track all kinds of information...including....meeting notes....contact information.....calls made to customer....etc. etc. This is something you can buy and use the same day.....if you are not comfortable with Access then you may want to stay away from using it....it can be tricky....but if you are comfortable with it...then you can do some amazing things with it.

Depending on your accounting software, you may be able to drop everything from Quickbooks right into an Access program to help you sort out all the information.

I am looking into a software that will allow me to keep customer information and property layouts as well as tree inventories....

Any suggestions???

Anybody use arborgold?
