Have an f-super duty with the 185hp 7.3. For as gutless as it is... meaning WOT and some hills 20mph, it puts down decent fuel mileage numbers.
 
Without a turbo they are a little sluggish but for what they were sold against then they were far better than a 6.2/6.5 Chevy and the first 5.9 cummalongs weren't no power houses either, they were only 145 hp. With the turbo on it, it's 250 hp 545 Lbs of torque, considerably better than anything in the 80s and early 90s even
