Cut up a nice hickory

Had my tree service buddy with a bucket truck take it down, since it was near some wires. About 28 inch diameter. Of course I hit a nail, if there is a piece of metal in a tree I will hit it.

nice score!!! except for the nail. based on the additional black marks, one just under the nail and on the lower left and upper left sides of the pic, it appears that there could be more nails. Just a guess. careful cutting.

I hit that nail in one of my first cuts, and didn't notice. I was thinking ,,this is some frickin hard wood. Cut maybe 6 or 7 more and quit for the day. This morning I felt the chain and it was dull , just figured it was the wood.. I sharpend it and it cut good. I must have just grazed it with 1 side because I did notice it cutting crooked. Noticed the nail when I was loading it up.

I have also cut a cut nail the exact same way. Carried it around in my wallet for years.
Was a fence line tree along a road. The nail was from a sign up about 8 feet. Start at the top of the tree, nails are most likely to be in the last 10 feet.
